Sewing for the NHS

EnRich supporters have joined a group of local people making scrubs for the NHS in these difficult times.

The Barnsley Facebook group “For The Love of Scrubs Barnsley” was created by Sarah White a member of Art staff teaching at Barnsley College.

Sarah, and her team of organisers, have created a system where those needing protective equipment to care for others during the Covid-19 pandemic can get in contact to request the PPE they need.

The Facebook group are supporting the NHS in hospitals and GP surgeries as well as helping the hospice and local care homes.

There are more than 600 members of the group, many of them sewing scrubs, scrubs bags, hats, masks and ear protectors. Some of their creations are really beautiful.

Whilst specific fabric is sewn for the scrubs used in certain areas of the hospital some have been made from duvet covers and are perfect for settings such as a children’s ward or carehome.

These pictures show just some of their creations – including some purple/pink/cream scrubs bags made by our very own EnRich Charity Chair Josie Whiteley who said: “Every little helps. The hard work of so many volunteers is making a real difference to those caring on the frontline.

“Sarah and her organising team have done an incredible job to set this group up and to make this happen”.
