Barnsley’s well-known Radio & TV presenter Stephanie Hirst famously started her career at age 12 at Radio Aire in Leeds as a helper making tea for DJs and has had a busy career taking her to many radio stations including Minster, Hallam, Viking, Galaxy, Capital and Gold and even going on to host the National Top 40 show ‘Hit40UK’
Earlier this year Steph became a mentor for the “Change One Thing” campaign on ITV’s “Lorraine” so she now appears regularly on TV where she supports people eager to change a key thing in their lives. This role follows her recent personal experiences when she bravely announced live on BBC 5Live she was having gender reassignment treatment.
Steph remembers Rich T as a keen supporter of local radio. She said: “I’m really pleased to be asked to be a Patron of this wonderful Charity which will help support Barnsley people who love the performing and creative arts. I’m sure Rich T would be very proud of the charity and I hope to bring some of my expertise in the creative side of the Media to the team behind it”.
