Congratulations to one of our Patrons Kathryn Roberts who is celebrating winning the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Duo with her husband and fellow musician Sean Lakeman. Kathryn, who hails from Barnsley, and Sean also performed at the event held at the Royal Albert Hall last night.
Kathryn said: “We are dead chuffed to have won Best Duo, especially as we were up against other such brilliant nominees. Thanks to everyone for all the warm messages of congratulations”.
One of the other nominated duos featured Kathryn’s brother Barnsley musician Jamie Roberts and Katriona Gilmore.
The annual Folk Awards are one of the jewels in Radio 2’s musical calendar, and the event is now in its 17th year. The ceremony celebrates and rewards the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music.
